12 DAYS UGANDA TOUR INCLUDING GORILLA TREKKING

Day 1: Arrival

Our Tour Company representative will pick you from the airport and transfer you to your proposed accommodation site in Kampala. If your flight arrives in the morning, you are advised to change your money in Ugandan Shillings for use in your safari. You can then make urban trips to some of Kampala’s historical sites with the help of our driver/guide. This can be done in places like Kasubi Tombs, Wamala tombs, Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, Museums and craft shops around town. Later check into your hotel in Entebbe.

Day 3: visit Ngamba Island to see orphanaged chimpanzees.

Awake to a promising adventurous day of visiting the home of orphanaged chimps located on Lake Victoria. Chimpanzee viewing goes at specific time in the day where you will experience the habituation of these close cousins.

A 10 minute drive to the pier near the Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC) will get you there in time for a brief from your guides. You will be leaving for the island by motor boat (another exciting activity) on Lake Victoria at around 9.00am. The boat takes between 45 minutes and an hour to Ngamba Island, crossing the Equator en-route.  Watch the chimps interact with each other and with their keepers. Note the different personalities amongst the group, with some whistling for food and others clapping. Return to the mainland to Entebbe Wildlife Education Centre or botanical gardens for a lunch and relaxation or go ahead to do birding or go to the zoo. Later you will be driven back to kampala for a night at holiday express/silver springs/red chilli.

Day 2: Jinja- the source of Nile River- white water rafting

Devour your early breakfast and proceed to Jinja to visit the Source of the River Nile, Bujagali Falls for an exciting adrenalin filled activity where you will do white water rafting trying to push your way around the sturbon rapids. Also, involve in a number of other activities like bungee jumping, fishing safari, cruise boat trips, horse back safaris, quad biking and lots of other fun things to do. Go ahead to do a drive from Jinja to Kampala where you will spend a night at you Hotel.

Day 4: drive to Murchison Falls National Park

Depart kampala early in the morning stopping over in masindi- a town with a welcoming people where you will have lunch before you proceed to the magnificent falls. Marvel at the robust Nile as it is farfetched into a seven-meter abyss to rumble 45 meters below. Check the series of cascades it forms, which can be viewed at different points up to the culmination. You are free to pose for pictures as these falls make an awesome background. Retreat for dinner and overnight at the luxurious Paraa Lodge/Sambiya River lodge /Basic Red chilli camp

Day 5: Game drive in Murchison National park.

Wake up early morning for breakfast, set for a half-day game drive on the northern Bank of the Nile River. Choose to either make a game walk to trail animals and study their spoors. Game in this park includes; Rothschild Giraffe, Elephant, Jackson Hartebeest, Lions, Waterbucks and a variety of Savannah woodland birds. After lunch, at 14:00 hrs, launch on a Nile boat cruise to view aqua game at close proximity. This is a unique encounter with a paradise of hippos and crocodiles, among other animals. You can also visit ziwa rhino sanctuary. Return to your accommodation for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Murchison- fort portal

After a hearty breakfast, depart from Murchison Falls for Kibaale forest National Park. The eight hours drive will take you through the Western arm of the Great East African rift valley characterized with a number of birds identical to those of the Albertine rift. On the Drive keep a close watch for birds such as Turacos, White Browed and Senegal Coucals, among others. You will also see spectacular escarpments, small African villages and banana plantations belonging to the local people. Arrive in Fort Portal town which overlooks the fabled Rwenzori Mountains described by Ptolemy as the Mountains of the Moon. Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge/mountains of the moon/ataco

Day 7: Fort portal- Semiliki

Retreat early after breakfast to the sempaya hot springs where you will be blown away by a spring, more of a broad steaming pool than a geyser that lies on the far side of the swampy clearing reached by a board walk. Take a walk there after in the pygmy villages located near the Ituri Rainforest for an interesting cultural experience. Have a picnic lunch carried by your guide amidst the African jungle while being entertained by bird chirps and monkey calls from a safe distance. Later in the afternoon you will be transferred to either Ndali Lodge/ Rwenzori View guest House/Basic kanyankyu ecological site at the park headquarters for dinner and overnight.


Day 8: Chimpanzees tracking in Kibale Forest

Take breakfast early morning. Leave for Kibale Forest National Park, which is commonly accepted to have a superlative diversity and highest massing of primates in East Africa. Relish a guided nature walk in the evergreen tropical rainforest in exploration of the wild chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, butterflies of different species and many others. Have a lunch afterwards, then go to the Crater Lake region and admire the setting of various Crater Lakes. Transfer later to Queen Elizabeth National park for dinner and night at Mweya Lodge/ihamba/simba safari camp.

Day 9: Game drive in Queen Elizabeth National park.

Awake in the wilds of Africa to different chimpanzee calls, fresh smell of African soil and plants, with a promising day ahead partake on a morning game drive in search of the wild game, view a beautiful panorama of the great lakes Edward and George, then also their gutter The great Kazinga channel. Drive to the Institute of Ecology, expect elephants, lions, buffaloes, kobs, the Python, hyenas, warthogs, birds’ hippos and lots more.  At either 11.00 take a boat -cruise along Kazinga Channel, a natural channel between Lakes Edward and George where you should expect to get exposed to a bird sin abundance both typical and migrants and the highest concentration of hippos in Africa. Drive to Bwindi for dinner and overnight at Gorilla Forest camp / Lake Kitandara luxury tents / Buhoma Homestead or at Buhoma Community Bandas .

Day 10: Gorillas Tracking in Bwindi or Nkuringo

Gorilla tracking can be unpredictable because it is difficult to foresee how many hours you will actually hike. The escapade of tracking the gorillas in the superb ecosystem of the park will be passionate for the adventurers. It may take 2hrs up to 8 hours or more and you should be prepared to a walk long distance in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before you encounter any gorillas. However, the excitement of seeing the gorillas makes it all worthwhile! Briefing will be given on how to handle or behave with these gentle giants always. After, dinner and overnight at Gorilla Forest camp / Lake Kitandara luxury tents / Buhoma Homestead or Buhoma Community Bandas.

Day 11: Drive to the lake Bunyonyi

Do an early breakfast and go on to enjoy another game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Proceed to Lake Bunyonyi in Uganda for birding and a cultural walk on Lake Bunyonyi southwestern shores to view a number of villages in their setting. Here pygmies walk over the mountains from Rwanda to sell their produce at the market at hakekuba. Enjoy a canoes ride in the afternoon before returning for dinner and Overnight at Bunyonyi Overland Resort

Day 12: End of the Tour

Be driven back to Kampala after Break fast- Shop around for souvenirs to make your friends back at home jealous. Then after you will be dropped off at Entebbe airport for departure Flight.
